Context & challenge

Thailand’s Motorshow and MotorExpo represent two of the most commercially significant events in the automotive calendar. For the client, a leading German luxury automotive brand, these exhibitions were critical revenue-generating opportunities.

Despite their importance, the sales process relied on fragmented, paper-based workflows. Lead details were captured manually, quotations were often handwritten or sent later via informal channels, and follow-up processes varied between sales consultants. This approach created unnecessary friction, reduced conversion potential, and increased exposure to tightening data privacy regulations under GDPR and PDPA frameworks.

The absence of structured digital capture also meant limited real-time visibility. Sales and marketing teams lacked actionable insight during live events, preventing dynamic adjustments to booth operations, campaign messaging or product positioning.

Objective

The objective was to create a fully digitised, compliant and insight-driven sales journey capable of operating seamlessly within high-traffic event environments.

The solution needed to enhance customer experience, standardise data capture, support immediate quotation generation, and provide real-time analytics to sales leadership.

Approach

ddx partnered closely with the client’s sales, marketing and compliance teams to map the end-to-end event journey and identify friction points.

Based on this assessment, ddx designed and delivered a Digital Sales Kit (DSK), a tablet-based tool enabling structured lead capture, instant quotation generation and compliant consent management.

The solution embedded GDPR- and PDPA-compliant digital consent workflows directly into the customer interaction process, ensuring regulatory alignment without disrupting engagement flow. Real-time dashboards were introduced to provide visibility into lead volumes, customer behaviour and campaign performance throughout each event.

ddx supported training, operational readiness and on-site deployment across multiple venues, ensuring sales teams were fully equipped to adopt the new system under live conditions.

Results

Lead conversion increased by 50%, supported by improved engagement and immediate follow-up capability.

All data capture processes achieved full GDPR and PDPA compliance, strengthening customer trust and reducing regulatory risk.

Sales and marketing teams gained access to real-time performance dashboards, enabling dynamic decision-making on booth layout, product placement and promotional activity during the events themselves. The client successfully transitioned from fragmented, paper-based interactions to a structured, insight-led sales experience aligned with its premium brand positioning.

Challenges & lessons

Transitioning from manual processes to digital workflows in high-pressure event environments required disciplined change management and strong on-site support.

Ensuring seamless usability while embedding compliance controls reinforced the importance of designing regulation and experience together.

The engagement demonstrated that digitising high-value, in-person sales interactions delivers tangible commercial benefits when compliance, usability and analytics are integrated from the outset.
