In depth
Spark is a new dating application positioned around exclusive, concierge-led experiences.

As the product approached beta, the business faced two immediate challenges: the absence of senior technical leadership and the need for a delivery team that could operate transparently, efficiently, and in close alignment with the founder’s vision.

With a fixed beta timeline and an evolving product scope, Spark required a partner who could stabilise delivery, build trust quickly, and establish a technical foundation capable of supporting both beta users and future growth.

The objective was to provide immediate technical leadership, integrate seamlessly with the existing Spark team, and deliver a stable beta release.

This included establishing scalable infrastructure, building high-quality mobile applications, and refining the user experience to ensure the platform was ready for real-world user feedback.

ddx stepped in as an embedded delivery partner, with ddx’s CTO assuming the interim CTO role to provide clear technical direction and decision-making.

Within weeks, the team aligned with Spark’s product vision and delivery priorities, establishing clear communication, delivery cadence, and accountability.

The platform was underpinned by a robust AWS cloud infrastructure designed to support performance, security, and future scale. In parallel, ddx delivered iOS and Android applications with a focus on responsiveness, reliability, and user experience. A structured UX review identified and addressed friction points across onboarding, matching, and messaging, while close collaboration with the Spark team ensured content and in-app interactions aligned with the brand’s positioning.

Spark successfully launched its beta platform on iOS, supported by a robust cloud environment and high-performing mobile applications.

The beta launch provided Spark with a strong technical foundation and the ability to gather meaningful user feedback ahead of public release. With delivery processes, infrastructure, and leadership in place, Spark was well positioned to progress toward its planned full launch.

The primary challenge was delivering a beta-ready product within a compressed timeframe while establishing trust, leadership, and delivery structure simultaneously. This highlighted the importance of rapid alignment, clear ownership, and disciplined execution in early-stage products.

The engagement reinforced that strong technical leadership and transparent collaboration are critical enablers of speed, quality, and confidence—particularly when transitioning from concept to live produc
